MITECO Kneževac and ENVICO d.o.o. from Belgrade have prepared and presented the Waste management plan for a company undergoing restructuring – the PKB Corporation, a Joint-Stock Company.
Waste management plan
The Plan was presented on 20 May, 2015 in the premises of the PKB Corporation. On this occasion, Mrs. Jasminka Mikalački, Deputy Director Business Development and Partner at ENVICO and Mr. Predrag Ozmo, Logistics Associate with MITECO Kneževac, held a one-day training course for 80 representatives from PKB.
The producer of waste is under obligation to prepare a waste management plan, as well as to organize its implementation, in the case that it produces more than 100 tons of non-hazardous or more than 200 kilograms of hazardous waste, as provided under the Law on Waste Management and the Rules on Categories, Testing and Classification of Waste.
After conceiving the contents of the Plan – which is to identify the documentation on waste created in the course of operation of the facility, measures undertaken for reducing the production of waste, the procedures and methods of separating different types of waste, methods of storing, treatment and disposal of waste, fire protection and ex-proof measures, measures for protection of the environment and human health – an integrated and sustainable waste management system is established which does not present a hazard to the environment and human health.
Therefore, the goal of preparing a Waste Management Plan is to identify the waste, define waste streams, apply the principles of hierarchal waste management, set up standard operating procedures for waste management and to undertake measures for protection of the environment and human health.
The project for preparing this Plan was initiated in October 2014, with the revision and adoption of the Plan by PKB Corportion in April of this year, and, as per agreement terms, training of the employees of this company represents the final part of this project.
