Owners of devices containing PCB waste have only little time left to dispose of this waste according to the Law on Waste Management.
Disposal, i.e. decontamination of PCB-containing devices and disposal of PCB from all such devices is to be carried out by 2015 at the latest.
The Law states that the owner of a device containing more than 5 dm3 of PCB is under obligation to notify the Ministry about such device, to submit a replacement plan, i.e. disposal and device decontamination plan, to provide for its disposal, i.e. its decontamination, as well as to inform the Ministry about any changes in data pertaining to the device within three months from the occurred change.
Exceptionally, owner of a device containing between 0.05-0.005 % by weight PCB is under obligation to provide for disposal, i.e. decontamination of devices upon the end of their use.
It is necessary to appeal both to the competent Ministry and owners of PCB-containing devices to comply with legal regulations and with the obligation to adequately dispose of such waste in order to ensure protection of the environment and human health.
