The goal of exchanging experiences in waste management: efficient EU-accession of Serbia
Working meetings were held in Romania on February 16-19, attended by Miodrag Mitrović, MITECO owner and Chairman of the Association of the Waste Industry of Serbia "Hrabri čistač", Peter Hodecek, representative of the VOEB association from Austria, and Dimitru Mihalache and Constantin Damov representing the ARMD association from Romania.
The purpose of these talks was improving cooperation between countries of these three associations, which are also members of FEAD (European Federation of Waste Management and Environmental Services).
Representatives of these three countries, known in Europe as the Danube Region, placed specific emphasis on exchanging experiences related to waste management, and they agreed on organizing in the forthcoming period a workshop in Serbia whose goal it will be to demonstrate the direction our country should be heading toward in the process of transition and EU accession. With this in aim, Peter Hocecek has already visited Serbia several times on behalf of the VOEB association and through participation in different panel discussions and events has related Austria's experiences in the field of waste management.
On this occasion, representatives of these associations visited the company for hazardous waste disposal Set Car in Braila, as well as the company Greentech, which is engaged in recycling PET and EE waste. Greentech is a member of the Green Group, which is a leader in recycling in South-East Europe with facilities in Serbia, Macedonia, offices in Greece and Germany. Both of these companies apply the most up-to-date technological solutions, ensuring them in turn profit without any government subsidies or aid.
Cooperation with companies in the region has been a long-term practice of MITECO and one of the strategic goals which should bring about improvement of business operations and development of the company.
