Nebojša Tomašević at the CEDEF Energy Forum
Waste should be treated as an important resource, as European countries have been doing for years now. The solving of numerous environmental issues and adequate disposal of waste, primarily waste that is the result of historical pollution, is of crucial importance.
The VI International CEDEF Energy Forum dedicated to the "Usage and Treatment of Municipal and Industrial Waste Water " gathered today in Novi Sad more than 100 experts from the environmental industry, companies working in the environmental protection sector, media representatives and guests. The goal of this gathering, organized under the auspices of the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of the APV, RS Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and the RS Agency for Environmental Protection, is drawing public attention to the current critical situation in Serbia relating to the usage and treatment of municipal and industrial waste waters and the challenges facing this sector, but also drawing attention to good local and world-wide practices.
The Company Miteco Kneževac, a leader in industrial and hazardous waste management, is one of this year's partners of the CEDEF Convention. Over the course of the past years, Miteco has on many occasions provided services of disposal of various types of wastes in the territory of Novi Sad, thus contributing to the solving of numerous environmental issues.
"In Novi Sad we have established a successful cooperation with several institutions and companies: the PUC "Waterworks and Sewerage" from which we have taken over and sent for adequate disposal PCB containing batteries, the Novi Sad Clinical Center which entrusted us with the disposal of organic solvents, while with the Faculty of Agriculture and Delta Agrar we have established a cooperation in the segment of proper management of pesticides. In Novi Sad, and in other parts of Serbia as well, there is a lot of room for further waste disposal, historical waste in particular, located in companies undergoing restructuring", pointed out Nebojša Tomašević, Manager of Sales and Marketing at Miteco.
Through their work, as well as their engagement in the work of a large number of national and international gatherings and conferences, Miteco's experts strive to pass on a message to the professional and general public that waste should be treated as an important resource, as European countries have been doing for years now. The solving of numerous environmental issues and adequate disposal of waste, primarily waste that is the result of historical pollution, which is Miteco's focus for 2015, is of crucial importance, not only from the aspect of environmental protection, but from the economic aspect as well.
It is the obligation of the company, or the state in the event that the company is not in a position to do so, to remove waste from companies undergoing restructuring, and this is a pre-requisite for attracting new investors as they will not to be involved with any property without prior insight into the contamination status analysis. Miteco's officials have pointed out that there is a positive trend in the efforts made by companies undergoing restructuring to solve the problem of historical pollution. They believe that there is good will to solve this problem permanently.
