On the World Day of Environmental Protection, on June 5, 2014, Central-European Development Forum (CEDEF), in cooperation with PKS, and under institutional auspices of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the RS, Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the RS, Agency for Environmental Protection of the RS and Secretariat for Environmental Protection of Belgrade, organized the 6th public debate "TREATMENT OF HAZARDOUS AND SPECIAL MOVEMENTS OF WASTE IN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA – A SPECTER IS HUNTING SERBIA" in which MIECO Kneževac also took part.
Debate on treatment of hazardous waste
The goal of the event was exchange of opinions and giving recommendations for the purpose of improvement of the condition in the sector of managing hazardous waste in Serbia.
General Manager of MITECO Kneževac Nevena Čolić Mohora spoke on behalf of this company, emphasizing that MITECO is the leading operator in Serbia in the area of managing industrial and hazardous waste that is treating waste as a resource. As an example of good practice, she singled out activities conducted by MITECO Kneževac radio in company Fiat Automobili Serbia. She reminded that 162 companies in Serbia are waiting for the solution to the problem of historical waste that is potential hazard for human health and the environment, in locations where it has been sitting for years.
During the public debate, the Memorandum on Cooperation was signed between CEDEF and the Agency for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia.
