„Which is the manner of the function of the Green foundation and which business entities will be qualified to apply for assets thereof“ – these are the main questions introduced in a conference „Waste Management – 2016“.
In a conference, representatives of corresponding Ministry, domestic and foreign companies have discussed on the opening of negotiable „Chapter 27 – Environment“, on the impact of the obligation of the waste management entities, courses of the development of the legislation and examples of the domestic and foreign practice. Most questions were towards Green foundation, through which the programs will be financed and implemented, as well as projects and other activities in the field of preservation, sustainable usage, protection and improvement of the environment.
Importance of this foundation will be in guiding these assets which will be realized upon the principle „pollutant pays“ into co-financing significant infrastructure projects for the protection of the environment, yet in the first line of the waste and waste water management projects.
In accordance with the topic of the conference, Nevena Čolić Mohora, General Manager of the MITECO Kneževac Company was talking about the examples of good practice taking into consideration waste management in Serbia. She has represented necessary steps in the process of adequate disposal of waste – from the preparation procedures (packing and marking, storage, transport) to the various types of treatments (incineration, recycling, remediation). In the same time, she has also drawn attention to the risks of inadequate sorting and marking of waste, and provided recommendations for prevention of potential accident situations.
Special attention is also given to the improvement of business processes carried out by MITECO Company, and which is concretely related to the relevance of automation of data which are recorded, due to more reliable traceability of the data and simple aspect of generating reports. Relevance of this process is reflected in more efficient business decision-making by the authorities and company management.
Besides, it was also spoken about challenges on a conference, as well as about up-to-date trends in dangerous industrial waste management. When taking into account incineration of dangerous waste, there were represented examples of good waste management practice in Austria, which were spoken whereof by representatives of Asamer Becker Recycling GmbH Company.
Within the conference, there was also organized round table, with the topic related to the courses of further development and adequate functioning of Green foundation whose establishment, as announced, is excepted in 2017. Let’s recall, Environment Protection Fund has been established in 2009, and cancelled due to malpractice, non-transparent and weak business operations in 2012. In the course of fund operation, more than 2.200 signed agreements were not realized, accordingly creating the debt of five and a half billion dinars.
