In the EU Member states, 5% of the population of working age is employed in recycling industry, which is strongly financially supported by Member states. It will be also soon prepared in our country soon, in organizations which are involved in keeping, transport and storage of industrial, municipal and dangerous waste and the protection of living environment.
Learning practice – this is the aim of dual education. Dual system education should facilitate economy in finding quality workforce, as well as youth to be recognized by the employers, through commitment during practice, and after graduation to commence employment thereat. The benefit for the society is in the fact that workforce gets education in accordance with the economic demands, thus the unemployment is less. In that effect, young people should be offered a chance to acquire practical knowledge, simultaneously responding to the market demands, as well as potentials owed by certain economic fields. One of them is waste management industry as well.

Through recognition of the significance of the practical education for youth, particularly in recycling industry, MITECO Company has organized vocational practice program for them, resolving case studies, numerous visits and presentations. As the part of the youth support and the response to the demands for the educated staff in the waste industry, reference is also given to the Polytechnics – New technology school – for the enrollment and realization of the educational profile called Recycling technician.
„Inasmuch as we are aware that almost all types of waste materials may be recycled, it requires an application of large number of recycling technologies, and at the same time, wide variety of know-how in various scientific activities. We also assume the fact, that Belgrade has most electronic waste, as well as the companies which are involved in this field of expertize, which is more than sufficient to support such go-ahead, whereby we supported origination of the link between perspective and necessary educational profile and indicated numerous companies which could open their doors to these young people. We will, at all cost, be one of them“, says Nevena Čolić Mohora, General Manager of the company.
The practice has put in the light, that in the countries which have dual vocational education unemployment rate is far less. Expectations are that in the upcoming decade in Serbian secondary schools, dual educational model will be completely applied. Actually, 18 schools, 900 students and 40 companies participate in pilot projects.
